Situation:

Growers can use TerrAvion thermal and NDVI imagery to identify irrigation system failures in their fields. In this example, the sprinklers at the center of the pivot were under pressurized, leaving the center area water-starved and resulting in less vigorous growth than the rest of the field receiving full irrigation. As a result, the inner portions of the field suffered severe water stress, which will compromise yield.

Action:

Use thermal and NDVI imagery to catch sprinkler failures and make corrections early enough to limit the loss of yield. This issue became apparent in the grower's August 3rd imagery. If at that point, the grower made a corrective action, the drop in plant vigor, as seen in the September 8th imagery, could have been prevented.
