What is the histogram tool and how do I use it?
The histogram tool quantifies what you see in the imagery in graphical format. This makes it easier to understand your field at a macro level. To use the histogram tool, select the NDVI layer for one of your fields, then click the histogram button at the top, right-hand side of your screen.
At the top of the histogram box, you will see the total number of acres for your field. On the graph, you will see Vigor Value shown on the x-axis and the number of acres that are represented by that vigor value on the y-axis. On the right side, you’ll see the graph breakdown. Here, on the left, you’ll see the color range for your selected color map, along with the numerical value range that each color represents (For more information on color maps, click here). Next to each value range, you will see the number of acres that are of that value, and the percent of your field that those acres represent.
The histogram is a great tool to help you quantify what you are seeing in your NDVI imagery to help you make educated decisions throughout the growing season.
